Our Story

The Male Infertility Network was created to support timely, evidence-based referral pathways for men undergoing fertility assessment. It reflects the growing recognition that infertility is a couple-based issue and that both partners should be assessed in parallel, rather than sequentially, where appropriate.

In practice, male factor infertility is common, but specialist male assessment is often delayed or overlooked. This can result in missed diagnoses, delayed management, and unnecessary progression to more invasive or costly fertility treatment without a complete evaluation of the male partner.

The Male Infertility Network helps GP referrers identify urologists with additional expertise in andrology and male reproductive health who are experienced in the assessment and management of male factor infertility. These clinicians are equipped to investigate abnormal semen parameters, identify reversible or contributing factors, diagnose underlying pathology, and work collaboratively within the broader fertility care pathway.

The purpose of the network is to make referral more straightforward for GPs seeking appropriately qualified specialists in this area. By improving visibility of clinicians with dedicated male infertility expertise, the network supports earlier male assessment, more comprehensive couple-based care, and better integration between primary care, specialist urology, and fertility services.
